‘Mamath Eka Malak’ is the first Sinhala autism song in the Commonwealth of Nations for 2014. It is a moving song on the beauty and brokeness of autism. Even though life is hard for parents, carers and people with autism in Sri Lanka and around the world – like a flower every child and adult with autism needs to be appreciated, loved and accepted. The legendary Radio Ceylon/SLBC broadcaster the late Vernon Corea would certainly have agreed with those sentiments as his grandson was on the autism spectrum. The song ‘Mamath Eka Malak’ has been dedicated to Charin Corea and all children and adults with autism in Sri Lanka.
