George Alagiah is one of the BBC’s top presenters. He is world class. Alagiah presents the BBC TV News and various other television programmes. When he was at Durham University he really wanted to join the BBC. One of the first people he came to see to ask for advice, help and support was Vernon Corea who helped him.

That helping hand at the very start of Alagiah’s career, stemming from his desire to go into television, has brought amazing results. George Alagiah is now one of Britain’s top television personalities.

At the time when George Alagiah met Vernon Corea in his office in The Langham in London, Vernon was the BBC’s Ethnic Minorities Adviser, Asian Programmes Officer and presenter of the iconic ‘London Sounds Eastern,’ on BBC Radio London 206.
