Sri Lankan superstar Annesley Malawana paid a tribute to Vernon Corea at his 40th Anniversary in Sinhala Music Concert at the BMICH in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The Moonstones were helped, supported and mentored by Sri Lankan broadcaster Vernon Corea throughout the early 1960s. They were discovered and managed by Vernon’s cousin Sri Sangabo Corea.
The Moonstones have all visited Vernon Corea and his family when they were living at 5 Maha Nuge Gardens in Colombo, Sri Lanka in the 1960s.
The Moonstones were helped, supported and mentored by Vernon Corea – he was the first to introduce their music on Radio Ceylon in the early 1960s. The Moonstones were managed by Vernon’s cousin Sri Sangabo Corea.
Annesley Malwana as a young musician has sought Vernon Corea’s help in the early 1960s. He went on to become a superstar on the island of Sri Lanka. He has met with Vernon Corea in London in the 1980s and 1990s.
