Who could forget the Elephant House Fountain Cafe in Union Place in Colombo during the 1960s it was a favourite place for Sri Lankan families to go out in the evening. Vernon and his family would pile in with his brother Ernest and son Lester in their Triumph Herald car and make their way to the Fountain Cafe to enjoy the delicious hot dogs and Elephant House ice cream and iconic Elephant House brand named drinks like Cream Soda, Necto, Portello, Orange Barley……

Ernest Corea owned a two door Triumph Herald similar to the car in the photograph by Alpinemauve. The Triumph Herald was a hot favorite with the children in the family.
