The legendary Sri Lankan musician Nimal Mendis paid a tribute to his friend Vernon Corea at the 10th Death Anniversary of Vernon’s held at St. Paul’s Church in Milagririya in September 2012. In the 1950s Vernon played all of Nimal’s records on his radio programmes over the airwaves of Radio Ceylon in South Asia. It helped to catapult Nimal Mendis into a household name in Sri Lanka, his songs were heard right across South Asia.

Nimal Mendis passed away in Colombo Sri Lanka in April 2015.
