Top Sri Lankan Musician Rukshan Perera to play at Vernon Corea’s Memorial Service at St.Paul’s Milagiriya

One of Sri Lanka’s talented musicians, Rukshan Perera will play a new composition at the Memorial Service for Vernon Corea – marking his tenth death anniversary at St. Paul’s Church Milagiriya. Rukshan will dedicate it to the pioneering Radio Ceylon and SLBC broadcaster.

One of Sri Lanka’s top musicians, the gifted and talented Rukshan Perera will play at the Memorial Service for Vernon Corea, the legendary broadcaster of Radio Ceylon and the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation.A composer, arranger, music director, multi-instrumentalist and a singer, is respected as a creative musician in Sri Lanka and abroad. Rukshan’s compositions vary from pop, blues and jazz to acapellas with unusual harmonies to fusion arrangements. The Memorial Service marking Vernon Corea’s tenth death anniversary will be held at St. Paul’s Church Milagiriya on Saturday 29th September 2012 at 5 p.m.

Rukshan Perera has headlined concerts all over the world – he has also played with Sri Lanka’s ‘King of Pop’ Clarence Wijewardena. Clarence dedicated his classic song ‘Piyaneni’ to Vernon’s father, Reverend Canon Ivan Corea who was Vicar of St. Luke’s Church Borella and Vicar of St. Paul’s Milagiriya. Rukshan Perera will sing a new composition, ‘I’m Ready to Say Goodbye,’ at the Memorial Service.
