The Fountain Cafe was a hot favourite with Vernon and his brother Ernest. They never failed to take their families for a treat – the children loved the legendary Fountain Cafe hot dogs with that special sauce, Elephant House ice cream, iced coffee and Elephant House drinks. The Fountain Cafe has been re-launched at Keells Union Place in Colombo. Apparently the old Fountain Cafe menu is back and some of the old waiters who were at the Fountain Cafe in the 1970s are now working here.
